Search Marketing Strategist

The Search Marketing Strategist is responsible for leading our search marketing services in terms of SEO (Search Engine Optimization) and SEM (Search Engine Marketing).​  Collaborating within a diverse team of VisionPoint specialists including project managers, strategists, web designers, web developers and content developers, the Search Marketing Strategist  is responsible for developing the client’s overarching search strategy and managing online campaigns that may involve integrated SEO, PPC, social media, email, content editing and offline initiatives.

The Search Marketing Strategist must be able to create and communicate the content strategy as well as tactically execute, manage and optimize campaigns/programs, testing variables, bids and creative. The Search Marketing Strategist will also be responsible for auditing technical infrastructure, conducting keyword analysis, analyzing data and producing strategic recommendations.

Finally, the Search Marketing Strategist will be dedicated to working within the client team to increase natural and paid search relevance and exceed the client’s goals in terms of engagement and conversions with the target audience.​

Primary Responsibilities

  • A creative and dynamic marketing thinker, the Search Marketing Strategist will be involved in some or all of the following: pay per click advertising (for Google, Yahoo! and Bing), banner and online advertising, SEO, social media advertising, landing page optimization, measurement, analysis and consultative reporting of client campaigns through various reporting software and / or Google Analytics and integrated online and offline marketing campaigns.​
  • Management of paid search (SEM) campaigns and oversight of the daily/​weekly/​monthly management of SEM campaigns to KPIs (Key Performance Indicators).​ The Search Marketing Strategist will diagnose issues on campaigns, then prescribe and implement SEM solutions towards meeting performance metrics.​ In addition, he or she will provide frequent progress reports across all online engagement efforts.​
  • Develop SEO strategy and oversee execution of plan including specifically contributing to site changes that will increase quality of traffic, maximize site performance, improve search result listings and ultimately drive value for the site.​ Strategic requirements include elements such as: market/​industry research, benchmarking, technical/​site architecture assessment, keyword/​content strategy, approach to (organic) link building, social media, integration of online and offline, content assessment and others.​
  • Keep abreast of and communicate search marketing trends and implications to our internal team and our clients.
  • Lead the documentation of standard SEO/SEM processes including the implementation of best practices and process improvements that make the organization more efficient and effective.​
  • Actively contribute to VisionPoint’s culture, communication, collaboration and growth.​


Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • At least 3 years experience in online marketing
  • Minimum 2-3 years in Paid Search (SEM) and Organic Search (SEO) marketing with demonstrated results or case studies
  • Understanding of keyword discovery methods and proper ad group structuring
  • Experience in building quality inbound links
  • Experience with managing sizeable PPC budgets utilizing significant keyword and creative configurations​
  • Experience focusing on SEO including improving site structure, page construction, content, keyword lists and copywriting
  • Proven experience in media planning, buying, campaign trafficking and performance measurement
  • Ability to routinely develop and test new keywords to increase the search budget’s effectiveness and efficiencies
  • Thorough knowledge of Google AdWords, YSM!, and Bing/​MSN Ad Center ideally with current certification in Google AdWords
  • Very strong skills in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint
  • Thorough understanding of marketing metrics e.​g.​ conversion rates, click-through rate, cost per conversion, ROI
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to listen, articulate and write clearly and concisely
  • Ability to maintain a proactive and organized work ethic, acting effectively under deadlines and across multiple concurrent projects.

Compensation

Commensurate with experience. Salary, 401K with company match of 4% of salary, 100% paid health insurance with $0 deductible, company paid LTD and life insurance. Holidays plus 14 days of PTO in first year.
