Very surprising to see that Flash 8 is already at 86%. Also notable is that Adobe is releasing Flash Player 9 with a new programming architecture that will increase speed, add new functionality, and extend their campaign to compete with other cross-platform languages like Java.

Making Money is a discussion lead by the infamous Doc Searls on the economics of blogging. The back and forth that is heard in this piece is very interesting. Dave Winer pipes in and a few other famous bloggers. I think the most relevant piece is focus. Monetizing a blog requires you to have a sharp focus on a specific topic. This encourages your audience to pay attention and your contextual ads to be more relevant.

The cold war (Windows vs Mac)

If you keep up on world politics, you might see the same trend I do in terms of a new cold war being on the horizon. This one is going to involve not only the US and Russia (who is reverting back to their old Soviet ways … although the same might be said about the US, but that’s another story altogether), its going to involve China as well as some other regional players.

But I’m no historian or political buff, and my concern is not the upcoming cold war, it’s more about the fact that we can only handle one cold war at a time. That means that we need to end the cold war that has been plaguing us for the better part of the past 20 years: The Mac vs. PC Cold War.
