Mobile is the Future of Marketing
Mobile marketing is one of the most important new buzzwords in the field of marketing, and it’s not hard to see why. Mobi Thinking reveals that 77% of the world’s population uses mobile phones. This means that by integrating mobile into your marketing strategy, you can reach a wider pool of people from all over the world.
Marketers are already taking advantage of mobile marketing. eMarketer estimates that the spending on mobile marketing is expected to reach $1.5 billion by 2012. The reason for the dramatic growth in mobile marketing is its ability to execute highly targeted marketing campaigns that can reach customers instantly. According to ConnectMedia Ventures:
- Mobile marketing campaigns have an average response rate greater than 25%
- Mobile phone users have their devices with them for an average of up to 22 hours a day
- 94% of text messages are read within 4 minutes, compared to 48 hours for e-mail
Mobile marketing is still in its infancy and many professionals are still learning how to best leverage the medium, however, here are few tips that can help in developing effective mobile campaigns:
Focus on Daily Tasks: Mobile phones are constant companions in their daily lives. Why not make your customers’ lives easier with your mobile marketing? Local coupons are great examples. Location-based apps that can reach customers at specific places are also effective. They offer information to the customer right then and there.
Do Not Keep Customers Waiting: Mobile phone users are impatient. Make the process quick for your customers through the use of QR codes. They provide a convenient way of directing customers to your website without requiring them open up a browser and type in individual links.
Create a Dedicated Mobile Site: Customers notice your mobile marketing, they are interested in your company, and they go to your website with their mobile phones…but the website does not work! You just lost a potential customer. Making sure your website is optimized for mobile phones ensure that customers will get an ideal viewing experience no matter what device they access your website on.
Mobile offers a tremendous amount of freedom, so be creative and keep these important points in mind when developing your next mobile marketing campaign!
