Moving from Good to Great - VisionPoint Marketing’s Fall Summit

Twice a year, VisionPoint Marketing invests into its future with two days of offsite, strategic planning by the entire team. It's called the VisionPoint Marketing Summit and last week, a dozen VisionPointers enjoyed The Proximity; a stunning LEED platinum certified hotel, based in Greensboro, N.C. as the location for this fall’s event. This year’s goals were: To clearly define the company's culture, values and vision to ensure the company maintains all of the values that have made it successful as it continues to rapidly grow.
Moving from very good to great
VisionPoint Marketing’s President & CEO; Diane Kuehn, says now is a pivotal time for the company to come together to celebrate its successes and plan for the future. “We’re all expecting great things from each other and for our clients. The caliber of our clients is growing along with the size of our projects. We are moving from a very good company to a great company. It's an exciting time,” she says.
Making the culture at VisionPoint work
The summit involved a jam-packed agenda with creative brainstorming, thoughtful exercises, discussions and lectures. One exercise for instance involved defining precisely what "excellence" means [for the company, clients and individually.] Several hours were spent defining what makes the culture at VisionPoint work and the defining traits of the organization. What values must VisionPoint uphold in all that we do and how should these be honored and protected? How should we convey these to new and existing clients?
The 2011 summit was also hilarious. Teambuilding games this year included telephone charades, “Captain's Coming” and Catch Phrase. In closing, Kuehn asked how the group rated this fall's summit out of 10. The average grade was 10. "Our summit was inspirational, meaningful and fabulous,” one VisionPointer says. “Being part of a company with such an upbeat, positive and forward thinking culture is an honor."
