Community College of Baltimore County
What We Found
The Community College of Baltimore County (CCBC) is a big school. Annual enrollment pushes 70,000, including both degree and non-degree students. CCBC serves the needs of an entire community (900,000 in Baltimore County) and must appeal to a target demographic that encompasses nearly everyone. When we first met, CCBC desperately needed a web re-organization and strategy to better meet the needs of its broad audience.
What We Did
Hired to help guide that vision, VisionPoint Marketing developed a strategic web plan (delivered as a 40- page document) steering the college's web communications strategy into the modern era, including a phased roll-out, extensive research and suggested personnel needs.
With buy-in from the college’s leadership, VisionPoint was re-engaged to lead the information architecture and site planning portion of this multi-year approach. Over eight months, VisionPoint worked with CCBC to establish the hierarchy for the new website, developing the over-arching sitemap and corresponding page schematics for each page type. Deliverables along the way included:
- Over 100 face-to-face and phone interviews with CCBC stakeholders
- A content audit of the college’s entire web presence
- Creation of 50 user personas based on CCBC’s audiance
- Research, evaluation and recommendation of a new content management system (CMS)
- A governance plan to guide the college through the centralization process
