UNC Charlotte Migration

What We Found

For years, UNC Charlotte's web presence had been touched and edited by various people and departments throughout the campus. Each college had its own look and feel, content management system (CMS) and  policies for content management. The website lacked consistency and did little to support the value of North Carolina’s Urban Research University. As UNC Charlotte continued to grow, the need for a centralized website with a cohesive visual design and centralized technology platform became essential.

What We Did

In a true partnership with the University’s Marketing team, VisionPoint led the website overhaul including strategy, information architecture (IA), design and migration of over 50,000 pages onto a centralized content management system. A single suite of templates that would accommodate all entities within the UNC Charlotte family was developed; and these templates (although University branded) provided a certain level of individuality for each unit while establishing a cohesive look and feel for the University as a whole. An ongoing partnership, we continue to introduce new design options for use across the University system while developing the governance and style guidelines to maintain consistency into the future.
